invisalign braces

Invisalign braces are one of the most popular dental corrective services that we at Welling Center Dental Practice are currently offering our patients. They are a hugely advanced and modern alternative to regular metal braces, and might even be the correct treatment option for you.

So what do you need to know about them?

1. Invisalign is made from a special plastic.

An Invisalign braces set is made from a special plastic that is BPA-free and highly durable. It is a preferable option to the traditional metal braces, since the plastic isn’t as restrictive or hard on the teeth. In fact, this is one of the main benefits of using Invisalign braces, rather than traditional ones – increased comfort.

2. Invisalign braces can be taken off at any point.

Now obviously, in order for any type of dental treatment to work, you will need to give it some time, meaning that the Invisalign braces need to be worn for about 22 hours every day, to have a lasting effect on your denture.

However, Invisalign braces are easy to take off, for instance, while you’re eating or brushing your teeth. You can also take them off when they’re causing you discomfort.

3. Invisalign braces need anywhere from 6 months to 2 years to work.

Of course, only a dental professional will be able to determine the exact length of your treatment, but it’s worth knowing that Invisalign braces usually require a minimum of six months, and sometimes up to 2 years to work their magic.

4. You may need to change your braces.

Depending on the extent of the damage to your teeth, you may require more than one set of braces. Here’s the thing about Invisalign- they are fit to a model of your teeth at the beginning of treatment, but as your teeth begin to realign, the Invisalign braces may become loose, and so not really working anymore.

With traditional braces, a dentist would just come in and tighten or loosen your metal braces. With Invisalign, you will need to have your teeth re-fitted, and a new set of braces made out to continue the realigning process.

5. Invisalign braces are made using a 3D model.

During your initial consultation, the dental professional will take a 3D model of your teeth, which will then be used to create your very own set of Invisalign braces. Don’t worry, because this procedure is simple, and minimally invasive.

6. You won’t even feel them.

One of the biggest benefits of using Invisalign braces, as opposed to traditional metal, is their improved comfort. Invisalign braces will feel a little unusual during the first couple of days, but after that, you won’t even notice them anymore.

7. No one can tell you’re wearing them.

One of the things patients love most about Invisalign is the fact that they are clear plastic, meaning that no one will be able to tell you’re wearing braces. Unfortunately, braces can cause a lot of self-doubt and self-esteem issues, but not Invisalign, since you won’t even know they’re there!
